Mixed Triangle Scarf
Lion Brand® Tweed Stripes®
GAUGE: 14 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: kfb (knit into front and then back)
An increase worked as follows:
1. Knit the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle.
2. Knit the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You will have created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.
3. Drop the st from your left hand needle - you have increased 1 st.
Yo (yarn over)
An increase that also creates a small decorative hole (eyelet) in the fabric, worked as follows:
1. Bring yarn to front, between the needles.
2. Take yarn to back, over the right needle. This creates the new st. You are now ready to proceed with the next st as instructed.

NOTES: 1. The Scarf is worked in a mix of Garter st (k every row) and St st (k on RS, p on WS).
2. The first half of the Scarf is worked in St st, with an increase at the end of every RS row. Once you have a total of 54 sts, an Eyelet Row is worked. This is a decorative division of the halves of the Scarf.
3. When working the Eyelet Row, each decrease of k2tog is matched with a compensating yarnover increase - so the st count will not change.
4. The second half of the Scarf is worked in Garter st, with decreases worked at the end of specified rows.
5. Because the row gauge is different for Garter st and St st, the rate of decreases in the second half of the Scarf does not match the rate of increases in the first half of the Scarf.

SCARF
First Half
Cast on 3 sts.
Row 1 (Increase Row): K to last st, kfb in st - 4 sts at the end of this row.
Row 2: Purl.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 until you have a total of 54 sts, the last row you work should be a purl (WS) row.
Next (Eyelet) Row: K1, *yo, k2tog; rep from * across.
Note: The st count will not change on the Eyelet Row.
Second Half
Row 1 (Decrease Row): K2tog, k to end of row.
Row 2: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows until 26 sts rem.
Row 1: K2tog, k to end of row.
Rows 2-4: Knit.
Rep last 4 rows until 14 sts rem.
Row 1: K2tog, k to end of row.
Row 2: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows until 3 sts rem.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. |

Good Pattern....however this yarn (Tweed Stripes) is way to bulky for this.
If I was going to do this again I would change:
The yarn weight to something lighter--like a DK or Sock/Lace weight for drape.
And I would add some kind of border for the first half to keep it from curling like a ribbon.
Mine came out so big it's actually a shawlette. Plus I added a crochet border to help uncurl.
