Cabled Clutch
Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 14 sts + 20 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) over pattern BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: 4/4 LC (4 over 4 left cross) Sl 4 sts to cable needle and hold in front of work, k4, then k4 from cable needle.
4/4 RC (4 over 4 right cross) Sl 4 sts to cable needle and hold in back of work, k4, then k4 from cable needle.

NOTES: 1. Clutch is worked in one piece then folded and seamed.
2. The Cable pattern can be worked by following the Chart or the written pattern.

CLUTCH
Cast on 32 sts.
Knit 2 rows.
Begin Cable Pattern
Rows 1, 3, 5, 9, and 11 (RS): K3, p2, k8, p2, k2, p2, k8, p2, k3.
Row 2 and all WS Rows: P3, k2, p8, k2, p2, k2, p8, k2, p3.
Row 7: K3, p2, 4/4 LC, p2, k2, p2, 4/4 RC, p2, k3.
Row 12: P3, k2, p8, k2, p2, k2, p8, k2, p3.
Repeat Rows 1-12 four more times.
Knit 2 rows.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half so that cast-on edge meets bound-off edge. Seam sides.
Weave in ends.
Beginning at center front of Clutch, weave ribbon behind sts of cable crosses, around top edge of Clutch. Tie ribbon into a bow, trim ends. |
