Double Crochet One-Ball Hat

GAUGE: 11 double crochet = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

HAT
Chain 24.
Row 1: Double crochet in 4th chain from hook and in each chain across.
Row 2: Chain 3, turn, double crochet in each stitch across.
Repeat last row until piece measures about 20 in. (51 cm) from beginning.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
Fold piece in half matching short edges. Seam together along short edges to make a tube. Thread a strand of yarn through stitches around one open end of tube, pull to gather top of Hat. Knot securely. Weave in ends. |
