GAUGE:
9 sts and 12 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
LT (Left Twist) Knit 2nd st on left needle through the back loop and leave on left needle. Then knit both the first and 2nd sts together through the back loop. RT (Right Twist) K2tog and leave on left needle, then with right needle, go between the 2 sts and k the first st again. M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting the horizontal strand lying between the needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased. MB (Make Bobble) Knit into front of next st but do not remove this st from needle, knit into back of same st and do not remove st from needle, knit into front of same st again and do not remove st from needle, knit into back of same st, remove st from needle (3 sts increased). Turn and purl across the 4 sts. Turn and knit across the 4 sts. Pass the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th st on the right needle over the first st and off of the needle.
NOTES:
When knitting in the round on double pointed needles (dpn), your sts need to be divided fairly evenly onto the needles. If you are working with a set of 4 dpn, your sts should be divided among 3 needles. If you are working with a set of 5 dpn, your sts should be divided among 4 needles. The total number of sts will not always be evenly divisible by the number of dpns that you are using – this is not a problem! Simply divide your sts as evenly as possible, you will still create a symmetrical ‘tube’ of knitting.

This was really fun to knit. It was the first time I used the chunky yarn with larger knitting needles. The hat came out just like the picture. I am a beginner, so I used the knit-a-long instructions posted in one of the other reviews and it made this so simple. The youtube address for the knit-a-long is: http://youtube/dekOJSH-v_g
Happy Knitting!!!
