GAUGE: One Triangle = about 8 1/2 in. (21.5 cm) across one side edge. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: 2-dc Cl (2 double crochet cluster) Yarn over, insert hook in indicated st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops rem on hook), yarn over, insert hook in same st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. beg 6-dc Cl (beginning 6 double crochet cluster) Ch 3 (counts as first dc of cluster), yarn over, insert hook in indicated ch-sp and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops rem on hook), *yarn over, insert hook in same ch-sp and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook; rep from * 3 more times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. 6-dc Cl (6 double crochet cluster) Yarn over, insert hook in indicated ch-sp and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops rem on hook), *yarn over, insert hook in same ch-sp and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook; rep from * 4 more times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. 2-tr Cl (2 treble crochet cluster) (Yarn over) 2 times, insert hook in indicated st and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) 2 times (2 loops rem on hook), (yarn over) 2 times, insert hook in same st and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook) 2 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. |
NOTES: 1. Afghan is made from 66 Triangles; 11 each in 6 different color sequences. 2. The Triangles are arranged as shown in Assembly Diagram and crocheted together. An edging is then worked around the entire outside edge of the Afghan.

TRIANGLE I (make 11) With B, ch 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring. Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), (dc in ring, ch 2) 5 times; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch - 6 dc and 6 ch-2 sps. Fasten off. Rnd 2: With RS facing, join A with sl st in any ch-2 sp, beg 6-dc Cl in same ch-2 sp, (ch 2, 6-dc Cl in next ch-2 sp) 5 times, ch 2; join with sl st in beg 6-dc Cl - 6 clusters. Fasten off. Rnd 3: With RS facing, join B with sl st in any dc of Rnd 1, ch 3 (counts as dc in this rnd and in all following rnds), 2 dc in same st, (sc in next 6-dc Cl, 3 dc in next dc of Rnd 1) 5 times, sc in next 6-dc Cl; join with sl st in top of beg ch - Six 3-dc groups and 6 sc. Fasten off. Rnd 4: With RS facing, join D with sc in center dc of any 3-dc group, ch 4, *(2-dc Cl, ch 4, 2-tr Cl, ch 4, 2-dc Cl) in center dc of next 3-dc group, ch 4, sc in center dc of next 3-dc group, ch 4; rep from * once more, (2-dc Cl, ch 4, 2-tr Cl, ch 4, 2-dc Cl) in center dc of next 3-dc group, ch 4; join with sl st in first sc. Do not fasten off. Rnd 5: With D, ch 3, *4 dc in next ch-4 sp, dc in next 2-dc Cl, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next 2-tr Cl, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, dc in next 2-dc Cl, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, dc in next sc; rep from * once more, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, dc in next 2-dc Cl, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next 2-tr Cl, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp, dc in next 2-dc Cl, 4 dc in next ch-4 sp; join with sl st in top of beg ch. Fasten off.
TRIANGLE II (make 11) Work same as Triangle I, in the following colors: work Rnd 1 with B, Rnd 2 with A, Rnd 3 with B, and Rnds 4 and 5 with C.
TRIANGLE III (make 11) Work same as Triangle I, in the following colors: work Rnd 1 with C, Rnd 2 with A, Rnd 3 with C, and Rnds 4 and 5 with B.
TRIANGLE IV (make 11) Work same as Triangle I, in the following colors: work Rnd 1 with C, Rnd 2 with A, Rnd 3 with C, and Rnds 4 and 5 with D.
TRIANGLE V (make 11) Work same as Triangle I, in the following colors: work Rnd 1 with D, Rnd 2 with A, Rnd 3 with D, and Rnds 4 and 5 with B.
TRIANGLE VI (make 11) Work same as Triangle I, in the following colors: work Rnd 1 with D, Rnd 2 with A, Rnd 3 with D, and Rnds 4 and 5 with C.
FINISHING Arrange Triangles as shown in Assembly Diagram. Joining Triangles From RS, and working through both thicknesses, join A with sc in any corner where two Triangles meet, work (ch 1, sc) evenly spaced across to join edges of Triangles together. Continue to join edges of all Triangles to make a row. Fasten off. Work in same manner to join the rows of Triangles together to make Afghan. Edging From RS, join A with sl st in any corner ch-sp, *ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, tr in next ch (triangular point made), skip next 3 sts across edge of Triangle, sl st in next st; rep from * evenly spaced around entire outside edge of Afghan, working sl st in joins between Triangles; join with sl st in first st. Fasten off. Weave in ends. |
