Rings of knits and purls make this hat visually interesting and fun to wear. Enjoy knitting it in the round with one circular needle for the body of the hat and a set of double pointed needles to decrease at the top.

16 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

1. Hat is worked from lower edge up to crown (top of Hat).
2. Hat is worked in the round, beg with a circular needle, then changing to double-pointed needles when sts have been decreased.
3. If you prefer, the entire Hat can be worked on double-pointed needles.

With circular needle, cast on 72 sts. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle, being careful not to twist sts.
Rnds 1-4: Purl.
Rnds 5-8: Knit.
Rnds 9-56: Rep Rnds 1-8 six more times.
Shape Crown (top of Hat)
Rnd 57:
*K2tog, k8, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 60 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 58: Knit.
Rnd 59: *K2tog, k6, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 48 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 60: Knit, changing to double-pointed needles (dpn) as follows: With first dpn, k18 sts from circular needle, with second and third dpn, k12 from circular needle, with fourth dpn, k 6, place marker for beg of rnd, then k6 from first dpn.
You will have 4 dpn with 12 sts on each.
Rnd 61: *K2tog, k4, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 36 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnds 62 and 64: Knit.
Rnd 63: *K2tog, k2, k2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 24 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 65: *K2tog; rep from * to end of rnd - 12 sts at the end of this rnd.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining sts and pull to gather. Knot securely.

Following package directions, make a medium size pom-pom. Tie pom-pom to top of Hat.
Weave in ends.

Corrugated Cap Reviewed by Jennifer Firat on 2015-07-03 *****
I just made like this one and it was cute. I will make another one for my friend in different color. It was easy and really comfy. I have seen an infinity cowl pattern that will be a good match for this cap...thanks a lot for the pattern..
