Shiny Little Lamb

GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
STITCH EXPLANATION: M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.

NOTES: 1. Body is worked back and forth in rows on 2 double pointed needles. Once Body is seamed and stuffed, head is worked in the round from sts picked up around the neck.
2. Ears and Legs are worked separately then sewn to Lamb.
3. When working in rows on double pointed needles, wrap a rubber band around one end of each to keep sts secure.

BODY
With A, cast on 20 sts.
Work in Garter st (k every row) until piece measures about 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) from beg.
Shape Neck
Note: One st is decreased at each end of the next 3 rows to create the Lamb's neck. This decreased end of the piece is the front of the Lamb, where sts will be picked up for the head.
Next Row: K1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 - 18 sts.
Rep last row 2 more times - 14 sts rem.
Bind off.
LEGS (make 4)
With B, cast on 6 sts.
Rows 1-9: Beg with a WS row, work in Stockinette st (k on RS, p on WS ) for 9 rows.
Row 10 (RS): *K2tog; rep from * across row - 3 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread yarn tail through rem sts, pull tog and knot. Using yarn tail, seam Leg. Stuff yarn ends into Leg.
EARS (make 2)
With B, cast on 4 sts.
Rows 1-4: Knit.
Row 5: K2tog twice - 2 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread yarn tail through rem sts, pull tog and knot.
FINISHING
With cast-on end as back of Lamb, fold Body in half and sew together around all edges, leaving neck open. Stuff Lamb, using small pieces of fiberfill and gently molding Lamb with your hands as you stuff.
Head
With B, from RS beg at bottom of front neck, pick up and k10 sts evenly spaced around neck.
Divide sts onto 3 needles, with 4 sts on the first needle and 3 sts on the second and third needles. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle, being careful not to twist sts.
Rnd 1: Knit.
Rnd 2: K4, M1, k2, M1, k4 - 12 sts.
Rnd 3: K5, M1, k2, M1, k5 - 14 sts.
Rnds 4 and 5: Knit.
Rnd 6: K4, ssk, k2, k2tog, k4 - 12 sts.
Rnd 7: K3, ssk, k2, k2tog, k3 - 10 sts.
Stuff head lightly.
Rnd 8: *K2tog; rep from * around - 5 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Finish stuffing head if needed. Thread yarn tail through rem sts, pull tog and knot.
Sew Ears to head and Legs to Body. With scrap yarn, embroider straight st eyes and nose.
Weave in ends.
