Loom Woven Apron With Pockets
Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Cotton Hemp
GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
NOTES: 1. Warp and Weft are worked with 2 strands of yarn held together.
2. Follow loom manual instructions on WEAVING for how to set up the warp, weave the weft, and remove weaving from the loom.
3. Apron is made of 6 pieces - a Front Panel, 2 Pockets and 3 Waistband/Tie pieces.

FRONT PANEL (make 1)
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 36-hole pieces, (4) 12-hole pieces, (2) 6-hole pieces, (4) corner pieces.
Connect pieces to form a rectangle as follows: 36-hole piece > 12-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > 6 hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > 36-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > 6 hole piece > corner piece.
Insert 53 small pegs into every hole on each long side and 23 small pegs into every hole on each short side of assembled loom - 152 small working pegs placed. Insert one contrast color small peg in upper right corner for slip knot.
Following loom manual instructions for WEAVING, and with 2 strands of yarn held together, set up warp across 23 pegs placed along short sides of loom.
With 2 strands of yarn held together, weave the weft across 53 pegs placed along long sides of loom.
Remove piece from loom.
WAISTBAND AND TIES (make 3)
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 36-hole pieces, (4) 12-hole pieces, (4) 6-hole pieces, (4) corner pieces.
Connect pieces to form a rectangle as follows: 36-hole piece > 12-hole piece > 12-hole piece > 6-hole piece > corner piece > 6-hole piece > corner piece > 6-hole piece > 12-hole piece > 12-hole piece > 36-hole piece > corner piece > 6-hole piece > corner piece.
Insert 71 small pegs into every hole along each long side and 11 small pegs into every hole along each short side of assembled loom - 164 small working pegs placed. Insert one contrast color small peg in upper right corner for slip knot.
Following loom manual instructions for WEAVING, and with 2 strands of yarn held together, set up warp across 11 pegs placed along short sides of loom.
With 2 strands of yarn held together, weave the weft across 71 pegs placed along long sides of loom.
Remove piece from loom.
POCKETS (make 2)
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (4) 12-hole pieces, (4) corner pieces.
Connect pieces to form a square as follows: 12-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > corner piece > 12- hole piece > corner piece.
Insert 17 small pegs into every hole along each side of assembled loom - 68 small working pegs placed. Insert one contrast color small peg in upper right corner for slip knot.
Following loom manual instructions for WEAVING, and with 2 of yarn strands held together, set up warp across 17 pegs placed on opposite sides of assembled loom.
With 2 strands of yarn held together, weave the weft across 17 pegs placed along remaining sides of loom.
Remove piece from loom.
FINISHING
Using yarn needle provided with loom, sew Pockets to Front Panel. Fold Waistband in half crosswise to find the center; do the same with the Front Panel. Match centers (ends of Waistband will extend past the side edges of the Front Panel), then sew Waistband to top edge of Front Panel. Sew a Sash to each end of Waistband. With same needle, weave yarn ends into the fabric of the Apron. |
