GAUGE:

16 hdc + 14 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm).

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1. Cuff is crocheted first, then sts for hand are worked along one edge of cuff.
2. Cuff is worked flat, hand is worked in joined rnds.
3. Cuffs are folded in half in opposite directions so that buttons lay on outsides of wrists.
4. Buttons are crocheted, then sewn to wrister.
5. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops to complete st. Fasten off old color.

RIGHT WRISTER
Cuff
With A, ch 30.
Rnd 1: Hdc in 8th ch from hook (buttonhole made), hdc in next 21 ch, 6 hdc in next ch, working along opposite side of beg ch, hdc in next 21 ch, 12 hdc in ch-8 sp, change to B in last st, join with sl st in beg ch-sp - 60 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 2: With B, ch 2 (counts as hdc throughout this pattern), hdc in next 24 sts, 4 hdc in next st, hdc in next 29 sts, 4 hdc in next st, hdc in next 5 sts, join with sl st in top of beg ch - 67 sts.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, hdc in next 26 sts, 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in next 30 sts, 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in next 6 sts, change to C in last st, join with sl st in top of beg ch - 71 sts.
Rnd 4: With C, ch 2, hdc in next 27 sts, 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in next 32 sts, 2 hdc in each of next 2 sts, hdc in next 7 sts, join with sl st in top of beg ch - 75 sts.
Shape Hand
Rnd 5: Ch 2, hdc in next 26 sts; leaving remaining sts unworked, fold cuff in half and sl st in top of beg ch of rnd 5 - 27 sts.
Rnd 6: Ch 2, *hdc in next 5 sts, 2 hdc in next st; rep from * 3 times, hdc in next 2 sts, join with sl st in top of beg ch - 31 sts.
Place marker in beg ch for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnds 7-16: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rnd 17: Ch 2, hdc in next 11 sts, ch 8 (for thumb opening), sk 8 sts, hdc in next 11 sts, join with sl st in top of beg ch.
Rnds 18-21: Rep Rnd 7, changing to B in last st of Rnd 21.
Rnds 22-23: With B, rep Rnd 7, change to A in last st of Rnd 23.
Rnd 24: With A, rep Rnd 7.
Fasten off.

Repeat Rnds 1-24 to make Left Wrister, folding cuff in opposite direction on Rnd 5 to reverse the placement of the buttonhole.

BUTTONS (make 2)
With A, Ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook.
Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around - 16 sts.
Rnd 3: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 4: *Sc in next st, sk next st; rep from * around - 8 sts.
Rnd 5: Rep Rnd 4 - 4 sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail.

FINISHING
Using yarn tail, sew Button to cuff opposite buttonhole.
Weave in ends.
