Image of Hexagon Granny Afghan
This interesting afghan in the painterly shades of Vanna's Colors creates a unique hexagonal shape by making a few alterations to the classic granny square. As with a traditional granny square afghan, each patch is worked separately and then seamed together into the finished afghan.

Hexagon Granny Afghan

Lion Brand® Vanna's Colors

GAUGE:

One Hexagon = about 9 1/2 in. (24 cm) across. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Hexagon Granny Afghan Reviewed by Emily M on 2013-08-06 *****
This pattern was great! Very easy to do, and a beautiful outcome. I made a lot more squares than the pattern suggested (about triple) so that it would be larger. To sew the squares together I used a reverse mattress stitch which worked really well. I used fall colors (burgundy, windsor blue, aran, gold and coffee) and I love it!
