Playful Squares Throw

Lion Brand« Babysoft®

GAUGE:

1 Square = 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 in. (14 x 14 cm). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

TECHNIQUE EXPLANATION
Adjustable Ring Method
Wrap yarn around index finger. Insert hook into ring on finger, yarn over and draw up a loop, then ch 1 (counts as first ch in first rnd). Carefully slip ring from finger and work stitches of first rnd into ring. When first rnd is complete, gently but firmly, pull tail to tighten center of ring.

NOTES:

1. Throw is made from 20 squares.
2. Squares are worked from one corner diagonally across to the opposite corner.
3. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color.

Made this extra large for my granddaughter's bed - used up a lot of leftover yarn. Was pleased with how it turned out.
