Lush Warm Hat

Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Glitter Eyelash - Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Extra Soft Wool Blend

GAUGE:

11 sts = 4 in. (10cm) over St st (k on RS, p on WS). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

Divide strands and remaining tail into 3 groups of one A and one B strand each. Braid the 3 groups for 8 in. (20.5 cm). Knot the end and trim. Measure 7 in. (18 cm) from one side of earflap (front of hat) then pick up and knit 14 sts along cast-on edge and work 2nd earflap in same way.

Lush Warm Hat Reviewed by Dawn Bell on 2013-10-04 ****
hat was easy, but it looks ridiculous on. I ended up ripping it out and making a blanket for my dog.

To the other reviewer, always check your gauge! Especially when working with a new yarn, or when you are new to knitting. I've been doing this so long I can tell right away if I need to do a swatch or just wing it.
