Crocheted Cone Hat
Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Alpaca Blend
GAUGE: 10 sc + 11 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased. |
NOTES: 1. Hat is worked in rnds, with RS always facing. At the end of each rnd, join last st to first st with a sl st. Do not turn at beg of each rnd.
2. If you prefer, Rnd 1 can be worked as a row and then joined into a rnd. This is an easy way to beg if you're concerned about twisting the foundation ch.
3. To work Rnd 1 as a row, leave a yarn tail and ch 43 (47), sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. At the end of the row, join the last st to the first with a sl st. Use the yarn tail to close up the small opening left by working a row.

| I agree that the sizing is a little off. I don't have a size hook recommended and wanted a 0-3 month hat, so I used an J hook but followed directions for the 3-5 year hat and it turned out almost perfectly sized for what I wanted. (I'm pretty confident in my gauge) that all being said, the shape turned out so cute and just like the picture. I know my sister will love it for her little Olive :)
