GAUGE: 11 half double crochet stitches = 4 in. (10 cm). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

WRISTERS (make 2)
Chain 20.
Row 1: Half double crochet in 3rd chain from hook and in each chain across - 18 half double crochet at the end of this row.
Row 2: Chain 2, turn, half double crochet in each stitch across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 7 (12) in. (18 (30.5) cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Beginning at top edge, sew side edges together for 1 in. (2.5 cm), leave next 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) open for thumb, sew remainder of side edges together.
Weave in ends.
