Lion Brand® Vanna's Glamour® - Fun Fur®

GAUGE:

17 sts + 20 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS), with smaller needle and 2 strands of A held tog.
14 sts + 16 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st, with larger needle and 1 strand of B.
When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

NOTES:

1. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
2. Yarn 'A' is always worked with 2 strands held together.
3. Ribbing is a long strip, worked back and forth in rows on smaller circular needle.
4. Sts for body are picked up across one long edge of Ribbing, and body is worked in one piece to armhole, then piece is divided and front and back are worked separately.
5. When you see 'work even' in the instructions, this means to continue in the pattern st you have established without changing the st count by increasing, decreasing, or binding off.

RIBBING
With smaller circular needle and 2 strands of A held together, cast on 30 sts. Work back and forth in rows on circular needle.
Row 1: *K2, p2; rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 2: K the knit sts, and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 until piece measures about 33 (37, 41, 45, 49) in. (84 (94, 104, 114.5, 124.5) cm). Bind off.

BODY
Note:
To make picking up sts easier, use pins or yarn scraps to divide Ribbing into 8 equal sections. Then, pick up sts evenly spaced across each section as follows:
SIZE SMALL: Pick up and k15 sts across the first section, 16 sts across each section to the last section, 15 sts across last section.
SIZE MEDIUM: Pick up and k 17 sts across the first 4 sections, 18 sts across remaining 4 sections.
SIZE LARGE: Pick up and k 19 sts across the first 6 sections, 20 sts across remaining 2 sections.
SIZE 1X: Pick up and k21 sts across each section.
SIZE 2X: Pick up and k22 sts across the first 2 sections, 23 sts across remaining 6 sections.

With larger circular needle and 1 strand of B, pick up and k126 (140, 154, 168, 182) sts evenly spaced across one long edge of Ribbing.
Work back and forth in St st (k on RS, p on WS) until piece measures 16 in. (40.5 cm) from the lower edge of the Ribbing, end with a WS row. Note: End with a WS row means that the last row you work should be a WS row.

Voyager Vest Reviewed by Linda Storm on 2013-01-11 ***
The amount of yarn for the size small left about 2 feet left. It was close.

It knitted up very nice exactly as shown.
When buttons are done up it fits perfect. When the buttons are undone the vest springs back and looks unsightly. So it needs to be buttoned up at all times.
