Seed Trimmed Scarf Hood
Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Lofty Wool Blend
GAUGE: 6 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle. Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased.
PATTERN STITCHES
Seed St (over an even number of sts)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of row.
Row 2: P the knit sts, and k the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for Seed st.

SCARF HOOD
Cast on 60 sts.
Work in Seed st until piece measures about 6 in. (15 cm) from beg.
Next Row: Bind off 20 sts, work in Seed st to end of row.
Rep last row once more - 20 sts remain.
Shape Hood
Next (Increase) Row (RS): Work first 3 sts in Seed st, k6, m1, place marker, k2, place marker, m1, k6, work last 3 sts in Seed st as established - 22 sts at the end of this row.
Next Row and all wrong side rows: Work first 3 sts in Seed st, p to last 3 sts, slipping markers as you come to them, work last 3 sts in Seed st.
Next Row (RS): Work first 3 sts in Seed st, k to first marker, m1, slip marker, k to next marker, slip marker, m1, k to last 3 sts, work last 3 sts in Seed st.
Rep last 2 rows until you have 30 sts. Remove markers on last inc row.
Continue to work first and last 3 sts in Seed st, remaining sts in St st (k on RS, p on WS) as established, until Hood, above Scarf, measures about 10 in. (25.5 cm), ending with a WS row. Note: End with a WS row means that the last row you work should be a WS row, and the next row that you are ready to work will be a RS row.
Seam Top of Hood
Notes: The Hood is seamed by working a 3-needle bind off. The seam is meant to show on the RS. Before binding off, you will need to divide the sts for Hood into 2 groups.
Slide 15 sts of Hood to one end of circular needle, pull gently on cable portion of needle so that a loop of the cable extends past the sts, then slide remaining 15 sts of Hood to other end of circular needle.
Fold Hood so that the WS of work are together.
Hold both needle ends together in one hand, with points facing in same direction.
With spare needle, knit tog 1 st from each needle, *knit tog 1 st from each needle, pass first st worked over 2nd to bind off, repeat from * across until all sts have been bound off. Cut working yarn and pull through last st to secure.
FINISHING
Weave in ends.
