Loom Woven Baby Cardigan With Loom Knit Trim
Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Extra Soft Wool Blend
GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
NOTES: 1. Sweater is made of 8 woven Squares, 4 each for Fronts and Back.
2. Follow loom manual instructions on WEAVING for how to set up the warp, weave the weft, and remove weaving from the loom to weave the Squares for the Sweater.
3. Follow loom manual instructions for SINGLE KNITTING for how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off to knit the trim.

 BACK AND FRONTS (make 8)
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (4) 12-hole pieces and (4) corner pieces
Connect pieces to form a square as follows: 12-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > corner piece >12-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > corner piece.

 Insert 17 small pegs along each side of assembled loom - 68 working pegs placed.
Use 2 strands of A for the warp and 2 strands of A for the weft.

 SLEEVES (make 2)
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (4) 6-hole pieces, (4) 12-hole pieces and (4) corner pieces
Connect pieces to form a square as follows: 12-hole piece > 6-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > 6-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > 6-hole piece > corner piece > 12-hole piece > 6-hole piece > corner piece.
Insert 23 small pegs along each side of assembled loom pieces - 92 working pegs placed.
Use 2 strands of A for the warp and 2 strands of A for the weft. |
TRIM
Loom Configuration
Use the following piece: (1) 28-hole semi-circle piece
Insert 3 small pegs into every hole anywhere along semi-circle piece - 3 working pegs placed.
Body Trim (make 1)
With one strand of B, cast on to every working peg.
Knit every row until piece measures about 56 in. (142 cm) from beginning.
Bind off.
Sleeve Trim (make 2)
Work same as Body Trim until piece measures 7 1/2 in. (19 cm). Bind off.
FINISHING
Thread yarn needle provided with loom with a strand of A. Following Assembly Diagram, sew Squares together to make Sweater.
Beginning at center back neck, sew Body Trim around outside edge of Sweater.
Sew Sleeve Trim to lower edge of each Sleeve.
With sewing needle and thread, sew snaps to Fronts. Sew the first snap just below Front neck Trim and the second 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) below the first.
Thread yarn ends into yarn needle and weave ends into the fabric of the Sweater. |
