Little Dot Hat

GAUGE:

16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

HAT

With smaller needles and A, cast on 72 sts. Divide sts onto 3 or 4 needles. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts. Place marker for beg of rnd.
Work in K2, p2 Rib until piece measures 5 in. (12.5 cm) from beg.
Next Rnd: *K34, k2tog, rep from * once - 70 sts.

Change to larger needles and work in Little Dot pattern until piece measures about 9 in. (23 cm) from beg, end with a Rnd 1 or 3.

Note:
When working crown shaping rnds, continue in the Little Dot pattern. Adjust the pattern as needed so that B 'dots' are worked on alternate sts.

Little Dot Hat Reviewed by Barbara Whiteside on 2011-12-08 *****
Luv this pattern. I've made 2, 1 for my granddaughter in her school colors - red ribbing, white body and black dots and red ball. Her colors are red black and white. Really cute. I made one for a Christmas gift in blue and white much like the picture. Pattern quick and easy. Thanks Lion Brand.
