GAUGE: 10 dc = about 4 in. (10 cm) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

HAT
Ch 4; sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc in this rnd and in all following rnds), work 11 dc in ring; join with sl st in top of beg ch - 12 dc at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in first dc, 2 dc in each st around; join with sl st in top of beg ch - 24 dc at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in first dc, dc in next st, *2 dc in next st, dc in next st; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of beg ch - 36 dc at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 4: Rep Rnd 3 - 54 dc at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each st around; join with sl st in top of beg ch. Place marker in Rnd 5. Do not move marker as work progresses. Marker is used just for measuring.
Rep Rnd 5 until piece measures 9 in. (23 cm) above marker. Remove marker. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. |
