About 31 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) over Cable Pattern.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

3/3 LC (3 over 3 left cross) Sl 3 sts to cable needle and hold in front of work, k3, then k3 from cable needle. PATTERN STITCH K2, p2 Rib (multiple of 4 sts) Row 1 (RS): *K2, p2; rep from * across. Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts. Rep Row 2 for K2, p2 Rib.

SCARF
Cast on 56 sts.
Work in K2, p2 Rib until piece measures 2 in. (5 cm) from beg.
Next Row: P the purl sts and k the knit sts to last 2 sts, p2tog - 55 sts at end of row.
Begin Cable Pattern
Row 1 (RS): K1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl, *p2, k6, p2, k1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl; rep from * across.
Row 2: P1 tbl, k1, p1 tbl, *k2, p6, k2, p1 tbl, k1, p1 tbl; rep from * across.
Row 3: K1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl, *p2, 3/3 LC, p2, k1 tbl, p1, k1 tbl; rep from * across.

Rows 5-8: Rep Rows 1 and 2 twice.
