Diagonal Eyelet Baby Blanket

Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Merino

GAUGE:

17 sts + 22 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (k every row).

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

NOTES:

1. Circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts. Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
2. Blanket is worked in one piece from corner to corner in alternating Garter and Lace Panels.
3. The first half of Blanket is shaped by increasing one st at the beg of every row; second half decreases one st at the beg of every row.
4. Each Garter Panel ends with a WS row; each Lace Panel begins with a RS row.

Diagonal Eyelet Baby Blanket Reviewed by Kay Tran on 2013-05-06 ****
Lovely little blanket. I used a dark navy yarn, so the lace pattern is harder to see, but still adds some subtle variation.

I used weight 4 yarn and 5mm circular needles. The blanket took a little longer to knit up than I would have liked, but once I figured out the pattern, I could pretty much knit on autopilot.

Keep careful count of your stitches and rows, and be sure to start the lace panel on the correct side. The corners where I started and ended the blanket are a little long and more square, while the two middle corners are more rounded. The blanket looks a little uneven, and I'm not sure if it's a result of knitting on the bias or my uneven knitting. Fortunately, the blanket is an informal gift, so it won't matter much.
