Loom Knit Ridges Cowl

Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Alpaca Blend

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

1. The instructions provided in the loom manual for casting on are the same for both flat knitting and knitting in the round (when you make a tube). These instructions are listed under the heading of SINGLE KNITTING.
2. Always knit in a clockwise direction around loom for single knitting in the round.
3. A contrast color peg is used to mark the beginning of each round.

Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 28-hole semi-circle pieces, (2) 36-hole pieces, (2) 12-hole pieces.

Connect pieces to form an oval as follows: 28-hole semi circular piece > 36-hole piece > 12-hole piece > 28-hole semi-circle piece >12-hole piece > 36-hole piece.

Insert one large contrast color peg anywhere along assembled loom to mark beginning of round. Skip one hole, then insert a large peg into next hole and every other hole around - 76 working pegs placed.

Following loom manual directions for knitting in the round, cast onto all working pegs.
Rounds 1-4: *Knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * to end of round.
Round 5-9: Knit.
Round 10: Purl.
Rounds 11-15: Knit.
Round 16-18: Purl.
Repeat Rounds 5-18 two more times, then repeat Rnds 5-15 once.
Last 4 Rounds: *Knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * to end of round.
Bind off.

Thread yarn ends through yarn needle provided with loom, and weave ends into the fabric of the scarf.

Loom Knit Ridges Cowl Reviewed by Theresa Schumann on 2014-01-21 ****
I followed the exact pattern and my results did not come out exactly how I expected..My scarf turned out to be looser and not as long. I am happy with the way mine turned out, and like the way mine looks more than the picture. This scarf is so warm and cozy, so I definitely recommend it! I'm also thinking about selling my knitting creations on so if anyone is interested you can look me up on there, my name is Lydia Schumann.
