Quick Cowl
Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Lofty Wool Blend
GAUGE: 4 1/2 double crochet = about 4 in. (10 cm).
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: If you find it difficult to join the beginning chain into a ring without twisting the chain, Round 1 can be worked as a row, then joined into a round, as follows: Leaving a long beginning tail, chain 28, single crochet in 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across; join with slip stitch in first single crochet—27 single crochet at the end of this row. Use beginning tail to sew gap at base of first row closed. Proceed to Round 2.

Round 1: Chain 1, single crochet in each chain around; join with slip stitch in first single crochet-27 stitches at the end of this round.
Round 2: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), turn, work a double crochet in each stitch around; join with slip stitch in top of beginning chain.
Round 3: Chain 1, turn, single crochet in each stitch around; join with slip stitch in first single crochet.
Repeat Rounds 2 and 3 until piece measures about 8 in. (20.5 cm) from beginning. Fasten off.
