Duplicate Stitch Baby Hat

Lion Brand® Martha Stewart CraftsTM/MC Extra Soft Wool Blend

GAUGE:

20 sts + 25 rnds = 4 in. (10 cm) with larger needles over St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd).

When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

PATTERN STITCH
K2, p2 Rib worked in the rnd (over a multiple of 4 sts)
Rnd 1:
*K2, p2; rep from * around
Rep Rnd 1 for K2, p2 Rib worked in the rnd.

HAT
With smaller needles and A, cast on 72 (80, 88) sts. Divide sts onto 3 needles and place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle, being careful not to twist sts.
Work in K2, p2 Rib until piece measures 1 in. (2.5 cm) from beg.

Change to larger needles. Note: To change to larger double pointed needles, just exchange one needle at a time as you work the next rnd. Work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures 4 (4 1/2, 5) in. (10 (11.5, 12.5) cm) from beg.

Duplicate Stitch Baby Hat Reviewed by Brooke Froelich on 2013-01-13 *
Adorable hat, but the instructions for the pattern are not good. It is hard to determine where and when to do the snowflakes along with the decreasing.
