GAUGE: Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
STITCH EXPLANATION: sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased.
STRIPE SEQUENCE
*Work 3 rows with A, work 1 row with B; rep from * for Stripe Sequence.

NOTES: IMPORTANT NOTE
Because of button eyes, Doll should not be given to small children. To make doll safe for children, use purchased safety eyes instead of buttons.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
1. To change color, work last st of first color to last yarn over, yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st.
2. Body is worked back and forth in rows then seamed. Legs and Arms are worked in continuous rnds; do not join or turn unless otherwise instructed.

BODY
Beg at top of Body, with A, ch 33.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 32 sts at the end of this row.
Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across.
Change to B.
Rows 4-39: Continuing in Stripe Sequence, rep Row 2, ending with 3 rows of A.
Fasten off.
LEGS (make 2)
With C, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch. Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each st around - 12 sts.
Rnds 3 and 4: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 5: (Sc2tog, sc in next st) 4 times - 8 sts.
Change to B.
Rnds 6-30: Sc in each st around, stuffing as you work.
Fasten off.
ARMS (make 2)
With C, ch 2.
Rnds 1-5: Rep Rnds 1-5 of Legs - 8 sts at the end of Rnd 5. Change to B.
Rnds 6-25: Sc in each st around, stuffing as you work.
Fasten off.
HAIR (make 2)
With C, ch 2.
Rnds 1 and 2: Rep Rnds 1 and 2 of Legs - 12 sts at the end of Rnd 2.
Rnd 3: (2 sc in next st, sc in next st) 6 times - 18 sts.
Rnds 4-6: Sc in each st around.
Insert a small amount of stuffing.
Rnd 7: (Sc2tog) around - 9 sts.
Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail.
FINISHING
Seam sides of Body. Flatten Body, so that seam is at center back. Sew buttons to Body for eyes. With yarn or embroidery floss, embroider a straight st mouth and 'eyelashes' above button eyes. Seam top edge of body. Stuff Body, then seam lower edge. Sew Arms, Legs and Hair to Body. Weave in ends. |
