NECKLACE
Wrap A around largest foam ball as if winding a ball of yarn, wrapping first several times in one direction to secure end, then changing direction every few wraps. When ball is completely covered, cut yarn. Thread yarn end into a blunt needle, then weave yarn end under yarn wraps.
In the same way, wrap one of the remaining foam balls with B and wrap the other with C.
Insert knitting needle through each covered ball, between wraps, to make a hole. Cut a 36 in. (91.5 cm) strand of A and thread into blunt needle. String covered balls onto strand, with one smaller ball on each side of larger ball.
Cut two 60 in. (152.5 cm) strands each of A, B and C. Hold one 60 in. (152.5 cm) strand each of A, B and C together and fold in half to find center. Tie one end of A strand used to string balls to center of A, B and C strands. Divide A, B and C strands into 3 groups of 2 strands each. Braid the strands for 24 in. (61 cm). Knot ends.
Repeat on opposite end of strung balls.
FINISHING
With B, wrap a 1 in. (2.5 cm) wide band around the middle of the largest ball. Thread yarn end into a blunt needle, then weave yarn end under yarn wraps to secure.
Repeat with A and smaller ball wrapped with C, and with C and the smaller ball wrapped with B.
Knot braided strands together about 5 in. (12.5 cm) from ends. |
