Loom Knit Pixie Hat And Scarf
Lion Brand® Baby's First®
GAUGE: 10.5 stitches = about 4 in. (10 cm)
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO THIS PROJECT. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

HAT
NOTES
1. Hat is knit in the round with one strand each of A and B held together.
2. The instructions provided in the loom manual for casting on are the same for both flat knitting and knitting in the round (when you make a tube). These instructions are listed under the heading of SINGLE KNITTING.
3. A contrast color peg is used to mark the beginning of each round for the Hat.
4. Once you've cast on for the Hat, continue knitting in a clockwise direction around loom for single knitting in the round.
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 28-hole semi-circle pieces, (4) 12-hole pieces.
Connect pieces to form an oval as follows: 28-hole semi-circle piece > 12-hole piece > 12-hole piece > 28-hole semi-circle piece >12-hole piece> 12-hole piece.
Insert one large contrast color peg anywhere along loom set-up to mark beginning of round, skip one hole, then insert a large peg into the next hole. Continue placing large pegs into every other hole along each 28-hole semi-circle piece and each 12-hole piece - 52working pegs placed.
Follow loom manual instructions for Single Knitting for how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off in the gathered method.
Beginning at contrast color peg, and using one strand each of A and B held together, cast onto every peg.
Round 1: Knit.
Round 2: Purl.
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until piece measures about 10 in. (25.5 cm).
Bind off in the gathered method. Pull yarn ends to gather top of Hat. Knot to secure.
FINISHING
Thread yarn ends into yarn needle provided with loom and weave ends into the fabric of the Hat.
SCARF
NOTES
1. Scarf is knit with one strand each of A and B held together.
2. The instructions provided in the loom manual for casting on are the same for both flat knitting and knitting in the round (when you make a tube). These instructions are listed under the heading of SINGLE KNITTING.
3. Once you've cast on for the Scarf, begin working back and forth for single knitting.
4. Scarf is knit flat on only one side of the loom. Loom is configured into a rectangle to make the loom easier to hold.
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 36-hole pieces, (2) U-shaped pieces.
Connect pieces to form a rectangle as follows: 36-hole piece > U-shaped piece > 36-hole piece > U-shaped piece.
Insert 14 large pegs into every other hole along only one 36-hole piece and a large contrast colorpeg at each end - 16 working pegs placed.
Insert a small peg in each connecting hole to hold loom together.
Follow loom manual instructions for Single Knitting for how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.
With one strand each of A and B held together, cast onto all 16 working pegs.
Row 1: Skip the first peg, knit across all remaining pegs.
Row 2: Skip the first peg, purl across all remaining pegs to last peg, knit the last peg.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures about 60 in. (152 cm) from beginning.
Bind off.
FINISHING
