STITCH EXPLANATION:
sc2tog (sc decrease) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased. sc3tog (sc 3 sts together) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. (Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop) twice. Yarn over, draw through all 4 loops on hook - 2 sts decreased.
NOTES:
To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Fasten off old color.
BROOCH
Beg at top of Brooch, with A, ch 4. Row 1: Work 2 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch - 5 sc at the end of this row. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in last sc - 7 sc. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in last sc - 9 sc. Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog - 7 sc.
Change to B. Row 5: Ch 1, turn, working through back loops only, sc in each scacross. Rows 6 and 7: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc across.
Row 8: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog - 5 sc. Row 9: Ch 1, turn, sc2tog, sc in next sc, sc2tog - 3 sc. Row 10: Sc3tog.
Fasten off.
LEAF
With C, ch 4.
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, 4 dc in last ch, working along opposite side of ch, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Edging
With right side facing, join B with a slip st at beg of B section on right hand side of Brooch. Work sc evenly spaced around outside edge of Brooch to end of B section, changing to A in last st. With A, work sc evenly spaced around A section of Brooch. Fasten off.
With sewing needle and thread, sew Leaf to top of Brooch. Weave in ends. With sewing needle and thread, sew pin back to wrong side of Brooch.
