These soap cozies are an ingenious way to make your soap last longer. Simply sew a bar of soap inside, and the cozy felts as you use it. Since Fishermen's Wool comes in big skeins, you can make multiple cozies as a wonderful party (or even wedding) favor!

Felted Soap Cozy With Cable

Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool®

GAUGE:

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

2/2 RC (2 over 2 right cross) Slip 2 sts to cable needle and hold in back, k2, then k2 from cable needle.

NOTES:

1. Materials are sufficient to make multiple Cozies.
2. Due to the nature of the felting process, the size of your finished Cozy may vary.

COZY
Cast on 32 sts.
Row 1 (wrong side): K11, p1, k2, p4, k2, p1, k11.
Row 2: P11, k1, p2, k4, p2, k1, p11.
Row 3: Rep Row 1.
Row 4: P11, k1, p2, 2/2 RC, p2, k1, p11.
Rep last 4 rows 5 more times.
Last Row: Rep Row 1.
Bind off.

 

FINISHING
With right side facing, place Cozy on bar of soap, with cable running lengthwise along bar. Sew center back seam. Sew top and lower edges closed. Weave in ends.

 

Felting
Fill sink with hot water. Put on rubber gloves. Hold Cozy with one hand, rub surface of fabric with your other hand. Work over entire surface, lathering until sts begin to lose their definition. Rinse gently to remove soap residue. Allow to dry. Cozy will continue to felt as soap is used.

Hi over here we are craxy over wedding favors. Recently we gave away as favors : Cinderella Carriage Candles at my daughter's wedding reception and our guests display them on their shelves. Too beautiful to use it and Im sure felted soap cozy will do juz the same especially with nice fragrances. How abt having velcro at one side so we can reuse it. Afterall it isnt hard to wash but not advisable for those with skin probs~Nora, Malaysia
