SIZE: S/M (L, 1X/2X) Finished Bust 40 (46, 52) in. (101.5 (117, 132) cm), before felting. Finished Length 34 (34, 35) in. (86.5 (86.5, 89) cm) Size Notes:
1. Pattern is written for smallest size with changes for larger sizes in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your size before beginning.
2. The application of Fun Fur to the Coat will increase the finished measurements slightly. Coat is then very lightly felted, which should return the measurements to approximately those listed above.
CORRECTIONS: (applied )
Attach Fun Fur Notes: 2. Follow Chart for color combinations. Work with 3 strands of Fun Fur held tog. On both Body and Sleeves, substitute F for any of the listed colors in small areas as desired.

Felted Coat With Fun Fur
Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool® - Fun Fur®
GAUGE:
8 (dc, ch 1) groups + 7 rows = 4 in. (10 cm), before felting. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
dc2tog (worked over dc, ch 1, dc sts)
Step 1: Yarn over, insert hook into dc and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops; Step 2: Sk the next ch-1 sp. Step 3: Yarn over, insert hook into next dc and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops; Step 4: Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook (dc2tog complete and 1 dc and 1 ch-1 sp have been decreased).
NOTES:
1. Body of Coat is worked in one piece with A, beg at lower edge. Piece is divided at armholes, and Fronts and Back are worked separately.
2. Sleeves are crocheted in rounds directly onto the Body of the Coat.
3. Fun Fur is crocheted onto the RS of the crocheted Coat. Work with 3 strands of Fun Fur held together following Chart for color combinations.

Attach Fun Fur
Notes:
1. When attaching Fun Fur, keep the RS of the Coat facing at all times. Work back and forth in rows across the RS of the Coat. When instructed to turn, turn work so that you can work back across the RS for the next row.
2. Follow Chart for color combinations. Work with 3 strands of Fun Fur held tog.
With larger hook, beg at lower right front edge of Coat, join 3 strands of Fun Fur to Coat as follows: Row 1: Join yarn with sl st around post of first st of row, ch 1, sc around post of same st, *sc around post of next st in same row; rep from * across row. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc around post of each st in next row of Coat.
Rep Row 2 until Coat and sleeves are completely covered with Fun Fur, changing colors following Chart.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. Felting
Note: Yarn A will felt, yarns B-F will remain unfelted. The very light felting process will provide structure to the Coat and stablize the attached Fun Fur.
Wash by machine on warm cycle with a very small amount of detergent. The Coat is designed to be only VERY lightly felted. Check the felting progress after just a few minutes and remove from washer when A is just slightly felted. Pull Coat into shape, and lay flat to dry.

They must be out of their minds! Reviewed by el on 2011-09-08
They must be out of their minds! I counted 38 balls of yarn for this project. I am going to try making it with a light worsted weight, maybe in a self-striping yarn and just do the collar and cuffs with fun fur.
