GAUGE:
18 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
kfb (knit into front and then back)
An increase worked as follows:
1. Knit the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle.
2. Knit the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You will have created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.
3. Drop the st from your left hand needle - 1 st increased. ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.
PATTERN STITCHES
K1, p1 Rib worked in rnds (over even number of sts) Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd.
Rep Rnd 1 for K1, p1 Rib worked in rnds.
NOTES:
1. Glove fingers are worked individually from the top down. Fingertips are worked as I-cord.
2. Completed fingers are joined, then Glove is worked in one piece.

GLOVE (make 2)

Child Size ONLY
Row 5: Slide sts to other end of needle. Kfb 4 times - 8 sts at the end of this row. At end of row, do not turn. Row 6: Rep Row 1.
Adult Size ONLY
Row 5: Slide sts to other end of needle. (K1, kfb) twice - 6 sts at the end of this row. At end of row, do not turn. Row 6: Rep Row 1. Row 7: Slide sts to other end of needle. *K1, kfb, kfb; rep from * once more - 10 sts at the end of this row. At end of row, do not turn. Row 8: Rep Row 1.
BOTH SIZES
Note: Beginning at this point, fingers are worked in the round.
Divide sts onto 3 double pointed needles. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts.
With B, k one rnd.
Change to A.
Work in St st in the rnd (k every rnd), working fingers to the following lengths (or desired lengths):
Thumb, Index and Ring Fingers: 2 1/4 (3) in. (5.5 (7.5) cm)
Pinkie: 2 (2 1/2) in. (5 (6.5) cm)
Middle Finger: 2 1/2 (3 1/4) in. (6.5 (8.5) cm)
Sl sts from each completed finger to a holder or scrap yarn.
Note: Since fingers are close in size, you may wish to label each as you complete it.
HAND

Work in St st worked in the rnd for 1 1/2 (2) in. (4 (5) cm). Thumb
Next Rnd: K8 (10) sts of thumb, place marker, k to end of rnd - 40 (50) sts at the end of this rnd Thumb Gusset
Rnd 1: Knit. Rnd 2: Ssk, k to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog, sl marker, k to end of rnd - 38 (48) sts at the end of this rnd.
Rep last 2 rnds 3 more times - 32 (42) sts.
Work in St st worked in the rnd (without increasing or decreasing) for 1 (1 1/2) in. (2.5 (4) cm). Cuff
Work in K1, p1 Rib worked in the rnd for 2 (2 1/2) in. (5 (6.5) cm).
Bind off loosely.
FINISHING
Use yarn tails to weave any gaps between fingers together. Weave in ends.

I made these for my 4 year old. The instructions were clear to me. However, the finger openings were tight and my daughter's thumbs wouldn't fit in them. They make a cute decoration though (just hide them under something and it's like witch hands reaching out).
