GAUGE:
1 Square = about 9 x 9 in. (23 x 23 cm) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Note: Clusters and dc4tog are worked similarly, but take note that a cluster is worked into a single st, a dc4tog is worked over 4 sts. CL (cluster) Yarn over, insert hook in indicated ch-sp and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops. (Yarn over, insert hook in same ch-sp and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops) 3 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. dc4tog (dc 4 sts together) (Yarn over, insert hook in next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops) 4 times, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Popcorn Work 5 dc into indicated st, drop loop from hook, insert hook in first dc of 5-dc group just made, pick up dropped loop and draw it through. When working the following row, push the Popcorn to the right side of the fabric. Note: On RS rows, insert hook from front to back in first dc of 5-dc group. On WS rows, insert hook from back to front in first dc of 5-dc group.
NOTES:
1. Twenty five Squares are crocheted, then sewn together following Assembly Diagram.
2. Squares may not match exactly in size. Any small differences in size of Squares can be eased in when sewing Squares together.
3. The Afghan is designed without a border.

3-dc Group Pattern
With A, ch 32. Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook (beg ch counts as first dc), sk next ch, sc in next ch, *sk next ch, 3 dc in next ch, sk next ch, sc in next ch; rep from * across to last 2 ch, sk next ch, 2 dc in last ch-Six 3-dc groups and two 2-dc groups at the end of this row. Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first dc, sk next dc, 3 dc in next sc, sk next dc, *sc in next dc, sk next dc, 3 dc in next sc, sk next dc; rep from * across to turning ch, sc in top of turning ch-Seven 3-dc groups at the end of this row. Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as dc on this row and on all the rows of this pattern), turn, dc in first sc, sk next dc, sc in next dc, sk next dc, *3 dc in next sc, sk next dc, sc in next dc, sk next dc; rep from * across to last sc, 2 dc in last sc. Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1 on this row and on all the rows of this pattern), turn, sk next ch, dc in next ch, *ch 1, sk next Popcorn, sk next ch, Popcorn in next dc, ch 2, sk next ch, dc in next ch; rep from * across to last Popcorn, ch 1, sk last Popcorn, sk next ch, dc in next ch of turning ch. I made the first five squares and the slight size difference wasn't an issue. I love the colors and Vanna's choice yarn. I am adding a row to make it a little longer and will also add a border. Very nice summery afghan.
