Doll is not intended to be a toy. Because of button eyes, Doll should not be given to small children.
NOTES
1. Body is worked with 2 colors, following Chart.
2. Chart is worked in St st (k on RS, p on WS). Follow Chart from right to left on RS rows, from left to right on WS rows. Carry color not in use across WS of work.

BODY
With A, cast on 60 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Next Row (RS): Knit, following Row 1 of Chart and repeating 12 sts of this chart 5 times across row.
Work in St st (k on RS, p on WS), repeating Rows 1-10 of chart until piece measures about 6 in. (15 cm) from beg.
Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a long. Use tail to seam sides.
ARMS (make 2)
With C, cast on 10 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Beg with a RS row, work in St st, in the following stripe sequence:
Rows 1-4: C.
Rows 5-8: I.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures about 4 in. (10 cm) from beg, end with a Row 8.
Next Row: With C, *k2tog; rep from * to end of row - 5 sts at the end of this row.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through sts of last row and pull to gather. Use rem tail to seam sides of Arm, stuffing lightly as you sew.
LEGS (make 2)
With C, cast on 10 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Beg with a RS row, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) in the following stripe sequence:
Rows 1-4: C.
Rows 5-8: I.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures about 6 in. (15 cm) from beg, end with a Row 8.
Next Row: With C, *k2tog; rep from * to end of row - 5 sts at the end of this row.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through sts of last row and pull to gather. Use rem tail to seam sides of Leg, stuffing lightly as you sew.
SCARF
With C, cast on 8 sts.
Work in Garter st (k every row) in the following stripe sequence: 2 rows with C, 7 rows with D, 3 rows with E, 14 rows with F, 5 rows with G, 7 rows with H, 15 rows with D, 3 rows with F, 7 rows with E, 21 rows with A, 9 rows with G, 3 rows with C, 15 rows with F, 5 rows with H, 3 rows with D, 11 rows with A, 15 rows with E, 7 rows with C, 19 rows with H, 3 rows with A, 19 rows with F, 5 rows with D, 11 rows with G.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Flatten Body, so that seam is at back. Sew lower edge of Body closed. Stuff Body, then seam top edge. Sew Arms and Legs to Body. Sew buttons to Body for eyes. With yarn or embroidery floss, embroider a straight st mouth. Tie Scarf around Body. Weave in ends. |
