STITCH EXPLANATION: | sc2tog (sc 2 together) Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook - 1 st decreased. |
NOTES: 1. Coozie is worked in continuous rnds; do not join at the end of rnds, and do not turn at beg of rnds.
2. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Some rnds are worked with 2 colors. Carry the color not in use across the top of sts working the second color over the carried color.
3. Leave a long yarn tail when adding a new color; weave this tail in when project has been completed.

COOZIE
With A, ch 12; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Work 18 sc in ring.
Place marker in first st for beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is completed.
Rnd 2: With A, 2 sc in next st, change to B (do not fasten off A), with B, sc in next st *with A, 2 sc in next st, with B, sc in next st; rep from * around - 27 sts at the end of this rnd.
Fasten off A.
Rnd 3: With B, *sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around - 36 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 4: With B, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, change to C (do not fasten off B), with C, sc in next st, *with B, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, with C, sc in next st; rep from * around - 45 sts at the end of this rnd.

This turned out to be a real surprise hit. I was trying to find a crochet project to make for pre-teen boys. I made two for my niece's sons. I was skeptical at first, but these things work great!
The crochet process is a bit tedious due to the many color changes, but not difficult. I did change to an "F" hook (instead of a "G" hook) to firm-up the project. I also found that the starting ring was bulky and didn't flatten out as it should. So, I changed to starting by doing ch 9, join in a ring. Then work 12 sc in the ring, followed by *sc in first st, then 2 sc in next st* around=18 sc at end of round, then follow rest of instructions.
These things really fly and they don't break stuff. Everyone was playing with them right away. I'll be making several more for the girls, too!
