GAUGE: 14 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts. Work back and forth in rows on circular needle as if working on straight needles.

Cast on 210 sts.
Beg with a RS (knit) row, work in St st (k on RS, p on WS) for 7 rows.
Next Row (WS): Knit.
Note: Working a knit row on the WS will form a 'ridge' on the RS of the work.
Beg with a RS row, work in St st for 3 rows.
Next Row (WS): Knit.
Repeat last 4 rows until piece measures about 12 in. (30.5 cm) from beg.
Beg with a RS row, work in St st for 7 rows. Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. |
