GAUGE:
16 stitches + 32 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
HAT
Cast on 80 stitches.
Work in Garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measures about 12 in. (30.5 cm) from cast-on edge. Bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.
FINISHING
Sew side seam to form a tube, reversing seam for about 3 in. (7.5 cm) at cast-on edge for fold back edge of Hat. Weave tail through stitches of bound-off edge and pull to gather top of Hat, knot securely. Weave in yarn ends.
Five stars for an easy design. However I didn't have the yarn or the needle size for the pattern so my results didn't turn out looking like the picture. Although it does look good all the same that's why I gave it five stars.
