GAUGE: 12 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern st with 2 strands of yarn held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | 9/9 RC (9 over 9 right cross) Slip 9 sts to cable needle and hold at back, k9, then k9 sts from cable needle. |

SCARF
With 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 26 sts.
Knit 2 rows.
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 15, and 17 (Right Side): K2, p2, k18, p2, k2.
Row 2 and all Wrong Side Rows: K4, p18, k4.
Row 13: K2, p2, 9/9 RC, p2, k2.
Row 18: K4, p18, k4.
Rep Rows 1-18 thirteen more times, then rep Rows 1-7 once.
Knit 2 rows. Bind off.
FINISHING
Weave in ends. |

| Love this pattern. This is my first cable scarf. It knits so fast! I did it with Homespun Painted Desert. It has the same color variations as the model in the photo. It is so soft and warm. It is a good idea to create a chart or spreadsheet to keep track of the rows. I read that using a circular needle instead of the cable needle is better. I wish I thought of that. The cable needle keeps falls out or gets lost in my knitting bag. ziplock bag cured that problem. It anyone says that they don't have time to knit, I knit on the train going to work. I plan to make another one very soon.
