Loom Knit Sporty Wristers
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®
GAUGE:
10 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm)
EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL TO THIS PROJECT. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES:
1. The instructions in the loom manual for casting on are the same for both flat knitting and knitting in the round. These instructions are under the heading of SINGLE KNITTING.
2. Knit on only the large pegs for Wristers. The small pegs are only used to hold the loom together.
3. Wristers are knit on only one side of the loom. Loom is set up in a rectangle to make loom easier to hold.
4. Wristers are worked as a flat rectangle and then sewn together to form tubes.
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 36-hole pieces, (2) U-shaped pieces.
Connect pieces to form a rectangle as follows: 36-hole piece > U-shaped piece > 36-hole piece > U-shaped piece.
Insert 17 large pegs into every other hole along only one 36-hole piece - 17 large working pegs placed.
Insert a small peg into each connecting hole to hold loom together.
WRISTER (make 2)
Note: Follow loom manual instructions on SINGLE KNITTING for how to cast on, knit, and bind off a flat piece.
Cast onto all working pegs. Row 1: Skip 1 stitch, knit to end of row. Row 2: Skip 1 stitch, purl across to last stitch, knit last stitch.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures about 8 1/2 in. (21.5 cm) from beginning. Bind off, leaving a 20 in. (50.5 cm) tail.
FINISHING
Thread tail into yarn needle provided with loom. Sew side edges of Wrister together for 2 in. (5 cm), leave next 1 1/2 in. (4 cm) open for thumb, then sew remainder of side edges together. Using same needle, weave yarn ends into the fabric of the Wristers.
