Loom Knit Ridged Cowl
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Thick & Quick®
GAUGE:
Exact gauge is not essential to this project.
NOTES:
1. The instructions provided in the loom manual for casting on are the same for both flat knitting and knitting in the round (when you make a tube). These instructions are listed under the heading of SINGLE KNITTING.
2. Always work in a clockwise direction around loom for single knitting in the round.
3. A contrast color peg is used to mark the beginning of each round of knitting.
Loom Configuration
Use the following pieces: (2) 28-hole semi-circle pieces, (2) 12-hole pieces.
Connect pieces to form an oval as follows: 28-hole semi-circle piece > 12-hole piece > 28-hole semi-circle piece >12-hole piece.
Insert one large contrast color peg anywhere along assembled loom to mark beginning of round. Skip one hole, then insert a large peg into the next hole, and into every other hole around - 40 working pegs placed.
COWL
Following loom manual directions for knitting in the round, cast onto the 40 pegs. Round 1: Knit. Round 2: Purl. Rounds 3-6: Repeat Rounds 1-2 (Rounds 1-6 create border). Rounds 7-13: Knit. Round 14: Purl. Rounds 15-38: Repeat Rounds 7-14 three more times. Rounds 39-45: Work Rounds 7-13 once more. Rounds 46-51: Repeat Rounds 1-6 for border.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Thread yarn ends into yarn needle provided with loom and weave ends into the fabric of the scarf.
Is pretty easy to do. Make sure you do all the border (3 garter stitch), otherwise it will role. I love how martha Stewart videos show to bind off-it looks like a crocheted edge. Next time I will crochet cast on too. Easy to do. It did take a little time though, but will make this again! :)
