Knit And Crochet Square Motif Cardi
Lion Brand® LB Collection® Wool Stainless Steel - LB Collection® Cashmere - LB Collection® Superwash Merino - LB Collection® Silk Mohair
GAUGE: Rnds 1-4 of Square 1 = 4 x 4 in. (10 x 10 cm)
24 sts + 26 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with 2 strands of A held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: kfb (knit into front and then back)
An increase worked as follows:
1. Knit the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle.
2. Knit the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You will have created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.
3. Drop the st from your left hand needle - you have increased 1 st.
|
NOTES: 1. Cardi is made from 5 pieces: 2 Fronts, a Back, and 2 Sleeves. The Fronts are crocheted and the Back and Sleeves are knit.
2. Six Squares and 1 or 2 Gussets (depending on size being made) are crocheted, then sewn together following Assembly Diagram to make each Front.
3. In the smaller size, Cardi is designed to be a standard length. For larger sizes, design has been modified so that Cardi will fall to a flattering, longer length.
4. When working Back and Sleeves, 2 strands of A are held tog. When working Squares and Gussets, a single strand of A is used.
5. To change color in crochet, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Fasten off old color.
