GAUGE: 9 1/2 sts + 14 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with size 15 (10 mm) needles and one strand of C.
Gauge Notes:
1. The gauge for this project is somewhat unusual due to size of needles and the number of yarns used. Your gauge will vary throughout the project as you change to different yarns. The fabric created with the assortment of needles and yarns will be very open and malleable and will stretch to fit a large range of sizes.
2. To make a gauge swatch, we suggest that you cast on about 25 sts with one strand of C. With size 15 (10 mm) needles, work in St st until piece measures about 6 in. (15 cm). Do not bind off. Lay swatch (with sts still on needle) onto a flat surface. Using both hands, tug gently on opposite sides of swatch to smooth out the sts. Measure swatch while it is still on flat surface.
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: | DW sts (Double wrapped stitches) Insert right needle into next st on left needle as if to knit, wrap yarn around right needle twice, draw both loops through and drop st from left needle. On following row, knit the first yarn over of each DW st, dropping the second yarn over of each DW st. |
NOTES: 1. Design is created by changing yarns and/or needle sizes, sometimes mid row. The design is meant to encourage creativity with a deconstructed look, don't worry if you work a st or two with the 'wrong' color.
2. Partial short rows are worked throughout the design. Because the design is meant to be lacy and very open, there is no need to wrap a st (as is usually done on short rows) when you turn your work. Short rows are worked as follows: first, work the specified number of sts (leaving the rem sts of the row unworked), then turn your work and knit back to the beginning of the row.
3. Tunic is worked in Garter st (k every st on every row) with double wrap sts (explained in Stitch Explanation above) to create elongated sts.
4. Tunic is worked with multiple yarns, sometimes with a single strand and sometimes with 2 strands held together. Some of the yarn/color changes are mid-row. To change color, cut old color, leaving a long tail, and continue with new color. Tails woven in mid-row will be visible and are meant to be part of the design.

 FRONT
With size 15 (10 mm) needles and 2 strands of A and one strand of C held tog, cast on 46 sts.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K16, DW 30.
Row 3: Knit, dropping the second yarn over of each DW st.
Row 4: K26, cut both strands of A; with one strand of C, DW 40.
Row 5: With one strand of C, k20, dropping the second yarn over of each DW st, then DW each st to end of row.
Row 6: With one strand of C, knit.
Row 7: With one strand of C, DW 12, knit to end of row.
Change to size 10 (6 mm) needles and continue with one strand of C only.
Row 8: With one strand of C, knit, dropping the second yarn over of each DW st.
Row 9: With one strand of C, knit.
Short Rows
Row 10: K12. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 11: K16. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 12: K18. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 13: K20. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 14: K22. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 15: K24. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 16: Knit across row.
Join one strand of G.
Rows 17 and 18: With one strand each of C and G, knit.
Row 19: Drop G, with one strand of C, k20.
Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 20: With one strand each of C and G, k28; drop C and with one strand of G, k to end of row.
Row 21: With G, k to last 28 sts, pick up C and with one strand each of C and G, k to end of row.
Row 22: With one strand each of C and G, DW 18, k to end of row.
Row 23: DW 10, k to end of row, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Row 24: K, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Change to one strand of H.
Row 25: K12. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Change to size 15 (10 mm) needles.
Row 26: K34, cut H, change to one strand of G, k to end of row.
Row 27: K28. Turn and DW each st back to beg of row.
Row 28: Knit across, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Row 29: With G, k15, change to one strand of F and DW 20, with G, k to end of row.
Row 30: With G, k11, with F, DW 25, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts on previous row, with G, k to end of row.
Change to size 10 (6 mm) needles and cut G.
Row 31: With F, knit, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Row 32: With F, knit.
Row 33: With one strand each of F and G, k20.
Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 34: With one strand each of F and G, knit.
Cut F.
Row 35: With G, knit.
Row 36: K20. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 37: With G, knit.
Row 38: With one strand of G, k20; join one strand of C and with one strand each of G and C, DW each st to end of row.
Change to size 7 (4.5 mm) needles and cut G.
Row 39: With one strand of C, knit, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Row 40: Knit.
Row 41: With one strand each of A and C, k25; cut A and with one strand of C, k to end of row.
Change to one strand of F.
Row 42: With F, knit.
Change to one strand of I.
Row 43: With I, k26.
Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 44: K28, DW 10, join one strand of E and with one strand each of I and E DW each st to end of row.
Row 45: With one strand each of I and E, DW 6, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts on previous row; cut I, with E, DW 18, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts on previous row.
Turn and DW each st back to beg of row, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts on the previous row.
Change to size 10 (6 mm) needles.
Row 46: With E, k20, with G, k to end of row, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Row 47: With G, DW 20.
Turn and k back to beg of row, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.

Left Shoulder
Change to size 10 (6 mm) needles.
Row 1: Join E at neckline.
With E, k2tog, k across - 13 sts at the end of this row.
Row 2: With E, DW each st to end of row.
Row 3: K2tog, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts, k to end of row - 12 sts at the end of this row.
Change to one strand of H.
Row 4: With H, knit.
Row 5: K2tog, k to end of row - 11 sts at the end of this row.
Rows 6 and 7: With H, knit.
Change to one strand of D.
Row 8: With D, k4, DW each st to end of row.
Row 9: With D, knit, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Join 1 strand of C.
Row 10: With 1 strand each of D and C held tog, knit.
Row 11: With 1 strand each of D and C held tog, DW each st to end of row.
Cut D.
Rows 12-15: With C, knit, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Change to H.
Row 16: With H, knit.
Bind off left shoulder sts.
Right Shoulder
Change to size 7 (4.5 mm) needles, join I at side edge of right shoulder sts.
Row 1: With I and working right shoulder sts from holder, k12, k2tog - 13 sts at the end of this row.
Row 2: With I, knit.
Row 3: K11, k2tog - 12 sts at the end of this row.
Change to one strand of C.
Row 4: With C, knit.
Row 5: With C, k10, k2tog - 11 sts at the end of this row.
Row 6: With C, DW each st to end of row.
Change to one strand of K.
Rows 7-9: With K, knit, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Change to size 10 (6 mm) needles and J.
Row 10: With J, knit.
Row 11: K6; cut J, change to B, with B, knit.
Row 12: With B, DW each st to end of row.
Row 13: With B, knit, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Row 14: Rep Row 12.
Change to one strand of I.
Rows 15 and 16: With I, knit, dropping the second yarn over of DW sts.
Bind off right shoulder sts.

Note: Row 1 of Side is the lower edge.
With size 19 (15 mm) needles and 2 strands of A and one strand of C held tog, cast on 30 sts.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: DW each st across.
Row 3: Knit, dropping the second yarn over of each DW st.
Row 4: K10. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 5: K20. Turn and k back to beg of row.
Row 6: DW 20, cut both strands of A, with C only, k to end of row.
Row 7: Knit.
Row 8: DW each st across.
Row 9: Knit, dropping the second yarn over of each DW st.
Row 10 (Decrease Row): K2tog, DW each st to last 2 sts, k2tog - 28 sts at the end of this row.
Row 11: Knit, dropping the second yarn over of each DW st.
Rows 12 and 13: Rep Rows 8 and 9.
Rows 14-53: Rep Rows 10-13 ten times - 8 sts at the end of Row 53.
Rep Rows 8 and 9 until piece, when slightly stretched, measures about 24 in. (61 cm) from beg.
Bind off. |
FINISHING
Seam Back to Front at shoulders.
Place markers on Back and Front about 10 in. (25.5 cm) below shoulder seams for armholes. Sew Sides between Front and Back, with top of each Side at markers.
Armhole Edging
With circular needle and 2 strands of C held tog, pick up and k95 sts evenly spaced around armhole. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by knitting the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts.
Knit 2 rnds.
Bind off loosely. Rep edging on second armhole.
Neck Edging
With circular needle and 2 strands of C held tog, pick up and k110 sts evenly spaced around neck. Place marker for beg of rnd. Join by working the first st on left hand needle with the working yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts.
Knit 2 rnds.
Bind off loosely.
Weave in ends. |

| The pattern for the side seems off. It is way too long so I will have to re-do it and improvise. The front and back were fun to knit and I like the colors. My only complaint is that some of the yarn is barely used! I enjoyed trying all of the LB Collection Yarns but the Stainless was used for only a few rows as were some of the other colors.
