Multi-Yarn Pullover

Lion Brand® LB Collection® Baby Alpaca - LB Collection® Silk Mohair - LB Collection® Wool Stainless Steel - LB Collection® Cotton Bamboo - LB Collection® Superwash Merino

GAUGE:

11 sts + 16 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) with larger needles and one strand of B.
Gauge Notes:
1. The gauge for this project is somewhat unusual due to size of needles and the number of yarns used. Your gauge may vary throughout the project as you change to different yarns. The fabric created with the large needles and assortment of yarns will be very open and malleable and will stretch to fit a variety of sizes.
2. To make a gauge swatch, we suggest that you cast on about 25 sts with one strand of B. With larger needles, work in St st until piece measures about 6 in. (15 cm). Do not bind off. Lay swatch (with sts still on needle) onto a flat surface. Tug gently on opposite sides of swatch to smooth out the sts. Measure swatch while it is still on flat surface.
When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. The needle or hook size called for in the pattern is based on what the designer used, but it is not unusual for gauge to vary from person to person. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make your swatch, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Making a Gauge Swatch

STITCH EXPLANATION:

M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing it onto left needle.> Knit this new stitch through the back loop - 1 st increased.
ssk (slip, slip, knit) Slip next 2 sts as if to knit, one at a time, to right needle; insert left needle into fronts of these 2 sts and knit them tog - 1 st decreased.
Drop St (worked over 5 rows)
Row 1 (RS):
On a RS row, work to where you would like to create a Drop st. Place a marker (pm), (yo) twice, pm, then work to end of row.
Rows 2-4: Work in St st as established across row. Do not begin or end a new color at markers for Drop sts.
Row 5: Knit to marker, remove marker, drop next 2 sts from needle, allowing them to drop to Row 1 of the Drop st, remove 2nd marker, k to end of row.
Work Drop sts randomly on Back, Front and Sleeves of Pullover.

PATTERN STITCH
K1, p1 Rib (over an even number of sts)
Row 1:
*K1, p1; rep from * across.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K1, p1 Rib.

NOTES:

1. Back, Front and each Sleeve are worked following charts. Follow charts from right to left on RS rows and from left to right on WS rows. Work within red outline on chart for size S, within green outline on chart for size M/L, and within blue outline on chart for size 1X/2X. Ignore all stitches outside the outline you are following.
2. Pullover is worked with multiple yarns, sometimes with a single strand and sometimes with 2 strands held tog. The design is meant to encourage creativity with a deconstructed look. Don't be overly concerned if you work an extra st or two with the 'wrong' color - the design will still be beautiful.
3. Some of the yarn/color changes are mid-row. To change color, cut old color, leaving a long tail, and continue with new color. Tails woven in mid-row will be visible and are meant to be part of the design.
4. Random Drop sts are part of this design. Follow instructions to create a Drop st. Work Drop sts randomly on Back, Front and Sleeves of Pullover.
5. Where markers are placed, slip markers on every row.
