Ripple Effect Throw
Lion Brand® Homespun®
GAUGE: 13 sts + 6 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in ripple pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: dc3tog (dc 3 together) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops. (Yarn over, insert hook into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw through 2 loops) twice, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook - 2 sts decreased.
COLOR SEQUENCE
*Work 2 rows each with A, B, and C; rep from * for Color Sequence. |
NOTES: 1. To change color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete the st. Fasten off old color.
2. The ripple in this design is created by working dc3tog to form 'valleys' and working 3 dc all in one st to form 'peaks'. In each row, take care to work dc3tog over the 3 sts in each 'valley' and 3 dc in the center dc of each 'peak.' You may wish to use stitch markers to mark each peak.
3. The ripple pattern may not be evident in the first few rows. Continue to work rows, as instructed, and the ripple pattern will become more obvious.

| I made this for my sister last year. She loves it. I have also made it as a baby blanket a number of times in various colors and it always looks great. For the baby blanket I just make my chain much shorter. Very easy and lots of fun!!!
