6 sts + 8 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Moss st with 1 strand each of A and B held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Spiced Knit Afghan Reviewed by Karen Pothier on 2013-04-12
I made this afghan using spice, barley, fisherman and sequoia and it looks gorgeous. Just a warning though. Sequoia and some of the other wools in this category are 19 yards shorter than the others so you may need to buy an extra ball. I was a row and a half short! I will definitely knit this pattern again but will follow the other advice and make it bigger next time. The size as is makes a great accent piece but really only covers your lap. Four stars only because of the wool issue and the size. I would also add another strip of the fist section to balance the colors.
