Holiday Felted Ornament

Lion Brand® Fishermen's Wool®

GAUGE:

Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

pfb (Purl into front and then back)
An increase worked as follows:
1. Purl the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle.
2. Purl the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You will have created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.
3. Drop the st from your left hand needle - you have increased 1 st.

NOTES:

1. Ornament cover is knit flat, and then seamed to cover foam ball.
2. For ease in working, all shaping (increasing and decreasing) is worked on WS rows, color changes are worked on RS rows.
3. Yarn B is used on every other row, so cannot be carried between rows. Cut yarn B at the end of each RS row. You will not have to weave in all the yarn ends - simply tuck the ends under the knit piece when you wrap the foam ball.
4. Ornament can be made by following the written instructions OR the Chart.
5. When working from chart, read RS chart rows from right to left, and WS rows from left to right.

Felting
Note:
Fill sink with hot water and a small amount of liquid soap (any hand or dish soap will work). Submerge Ornament in soapy water. Wearing rubber gloves, hold Ornament with one hand and rub surface of knit fabric with your other hand, working over entire surface until the stitches begin to lose their definition. Rinse gently to remove soap residue. Allow to dry.
