GAUGE:

9 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st (k on RS, p on WS) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Herringbone Stitch Pillow Reviewed by on 2012-05-18 ****
This is an awesome pillow! I almost ran out of yarn, so I quit a bit soon and then blocked it out to 20x20 inches. That worked great! Keeping track of the rows is important. So I put a marker on the 12th row, moving it every 12 rows. Works great! My back didn't close really well, so I added a couple buttons. I also added a twisted cord around the edge. Great pattern!
