Mother's Day Shawl
Lion Brand® Nature's Choice Organic® Cotton
GAUGE: 9 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
NOTES: 1. Shawl is worked in two halves. This construction technique creates scallops on both ends.
2. Both halves are worked in the same way. Row 1 of the Second Half is worked across the opposite side of the foundation ch of the First Half.

Row 4: Ch 3, turn, dc in next dc, *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp, sk next 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 2-4 until piece measures about 30 in. (76 cm) from beg. Make sure that the last row worked is a Row 4 to end with an attractive scalloped edge.
Fasten off.
Second Half
Working across opposite side of foundation ch of First Half, join yarn with sl st in first ch.
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in next ch, *sk next 2 ch, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch (at base of shell of Row 1 of First Half), sk next 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch; rep from * across.
Rows 2-4: Work same as Rows 2-4 of First Half.
Rep Rows 2-4 until Second Half measures same as First Half. Make sure that the last row worked is a Row 4 to end with an attractive scalloped edge that matches the scalloped edge of the First Half. Note: Shawl should now measure about 60 in. (152.5 cm) long.

| What a beautiful shawl! I used a soft worsted weight yarn I already had and a J hook and made it a little wider so the shawl has 5 scallops. I did follow the pattern and made the shawl in two halves. I will definitely be making more of these!
