GAUGE:
25 sts = about 4 in. (10 cm) over pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
Two-Color Tweed
Row 1: With B, k1, *k1, sl1wyib; rep from * across to last st, k1.
Row 2: With B, k1, *sl1wyif, k1; rep from * across to last st, k1.
Row 3: With A, k1, *sl1wyib, k1 through back loop; rep from * across to last st, k1.
Row 4: With A, k1, *k1, sl1wyif; rep from * across to last st, k1.
Rep Rows 1-4 for Two-Color Tweed pattern.
NOTES:
1. Each color is worked for 2 rows, do not cut old color.
2. Slip all st sts as if to purl.
3. With yarn in front (or back) refers to the side of the work facing you (or away from you) as you work the row.
COVER
With A, cast on 26 sts.
Knit one row.
Join B. Beg with Row 1, rep Rows 1-4 of Two-Color Tweed pattern until piece measures about 37 in. (94 cm) from beg.
Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew cast on and bound off ends of piece to make a ring.
Slip ring over your steering wheel to determine number and placement of ties. Mark position of ties along both long edges of Cover.
Ties
From right side, join B with sl st at marker. Make a chain about 2 in. (5 cm) long. Fasten off. Rep at each marker.
Weave in ends.
