Patchwork Garter Baby Throw
Lion Brand® Baby Wool
GAUGE: 16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

| Patchwork Garter Baby Throw Reviewed by Melanie Rae Mahathy on 2013-04-23 |

This note is for: Irene Ngoo regarding her question on 2013-02-18. I noticed that you had yet to receive an answer to your question, so I thought I'd try to assist you.
The 'diagonal' squares are called 'Mitered Squares'. There is a basic pattern for this type of square in the "Mitered Square Throw" - Lion Brand Pattern #L0242AD. The squares in this pattern are a bit larger than the ones for the 'Patchwork Garter Baby Throw'. You can either make your squares larger, or adjust your stitch count(s) to keep the same size square(s).
If you need more assistance or want to learn more about mitered squares, do a search on the Lion Brand site, Google, or something similar. Ravelry is also another wonderful reference source, as well as various knitting books. Also, YouTube has instructional videos available for most knitting techniques. I hope this information helps you!! Best Wishes.
