16 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter st (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Patchwork Garter Baby Throw Reviewed by Carolina Mondelo on 2011-12-07
This was my first attempt at a throw of any kind =) It was very simple and also very portable! It ended up looking really nice ... considering it was my first attempt. It is an easy pattern ... just at the end it is time consuming weaving in all the ends ... but the end result is worth it!
